Sorry it's been so long. With school starting, it's been crazy busy! Neville has been doing awesome at school. He loves to listen to the kids read. He looks lazy because I will tell him to sit and stay and he just rolls over and goes to sleep. I guess that's fine because the kids pet him and play with his ears and tail and he does nothing except wag his tail.
At recess I give kids the leash and they walk him around the playground. As the school year gets further along I will let him off the leash to play frisbee or ball, but right now we are still establishing the ground rules.
Already I have had some kids earn time with Neville for one reason or another. In that time we take him for a walk around the school grounds and then we go back to my classroom and I take the harness off and let him/her brush him and then I give the kids some dog bones and we practice some commands. It takes about 15- 20 minutes, but if it helps keep kids on task and motivated to do well I'm all for it!
We are off to a great start - I'll keep you posted for the rest of the year!

I AM SO GALD to hear that Neville is working out!!! I don't know if you remember me, but I am the woman that came up to you the day you met Neville and told you that I had read your blog about Ronday. My little girl was the Type 1 Diabetic that had the black lab Denali. Its really nice to hear that Neville had bonded with your son and your children at school. The labs are such wonderful children dogs. Skylar and Denali have bonded great and she loves our other two children as well. We are still waiting for her to alert to Skylar's blood sugars, but she is WONDERFUL at school. She goes to school with Skylar who is 9 years old and in 4th grade. She does the same thing as Neville, which is lay down and sleep most of the day till its time to move somewhere.....lol The teachers love her and say they don't even notice her there unless she is snoring or rolling over.....lol I wish our schools would get a dog for our children. I think its a wonderful thing!! I wish we could let some of the children love on Denali, but its such a no no with her being a medical alert dog. I am looking forward to reading more about Neville and his progress!! Skylar asked about the HARRY POTTER dog the other day....lol She just thought that was too cool! Take care and GOOD LUCK!
